Yoga is a mind body, spiritual exercise that first originated from India over 3,000 years ago. Yoga is from Sanskrit and means “yoke” or to bring together the body, mind and spirit.

The physical portion of yoga is called Hatha yoga. The asanas or the poses are focused on in this part of the exercise. When a person practices Hatha yoga they take the time to hold different specified poses while making sure to breath in a controlled manner. There are some types of yoga that even include chanting and meditation.
