Sacred Statues

Yoga is a unique mind body exercise. It focuses on improving the health of your mind, body and spirit. It utilizes many different techniques like meditation, incense, candles and other such things that help awaken all the senses to aid in the healing process. The use of sacred statues is also very popular within the practice of yoga.

There are many different types of sacred statues. Each one has its own special meaning and something that it will help protect a person from. For example, the Ganesh statues symbolize the God of knowledge and the God who can remove problems. His is the son of Lord Shiva. This sacred statue has a big belly, an elephant’s head and four hands. Another sacred statue is the Buddha Statue. Buddha statues come in a wide variety with each symbolizing something different.

The Krishna statues are known for spreading the love of people through melody. Typically they are playing a flute. This statue is usually shown with Radha, his childhood loyal devotee. The two are a symbol of the unending love that occurs between God and people. Some more sacred statues are the Shiva and Nataraj Statues. In these statues the Lord Shiva is in a happy posture and he is meditating. His hair contains the crescent moon and the Ganges River. There is a serpent that is around his neck, ashes all over his body and he is holding a trident.

Lakshmi statues are also sacred statues. Lakshmi is a goddess and her husband is Lord Vishnu. She is the goddess of purity, generosity, chastity, and prosperity. She has four hands which represent the four virtues. She sits on the seat of divine truth which is a fully blossomed lotus. She always has an aura of divine prosperity, spiritual and mental satisfaction and happiness around her. There are also Kali statues. This statue symbolizes the slayer of time and death. It is the destroyer of illusion. Kali means black and death. This goddess symbolizes a place where space, causation, and time have completely disappeared. This statue creates and she destroys.

Some more sacred statues are the Hanuman statues. This statue symbolizes knowledge, intellect, hope, courage, and devotion. He is a monkey and is holding a mace which symbolizes bravery. He has a tattoo of Lord Ramma on his chest which is a symbol of devotion to this Lord. Saraswati statues are also sacred statues. They are of the Hindu goddess of the arts and knowledge. These various sacred statues are believed to be able to protect people who own them.
