There are other Buddhist beliefs that show that life is not permanent and the individual self does not exist. These beliefs integrate the idea of karma and that all things that happen are determined by moral causation. These beliefs also say that continuous suffering is reincarnation and that the goal in life is to be able to break out of this cycle into a state of permanent pure nonexistence or nirvana.
The Buddha statues symbolize a belief system that has three many philosophies. The first is the Mahayana which means the “Greater Vehicle” and represents over half the total population of Buddhists among Korea, Japan, and China. Theravada is the “Doctrine of the Elders” and accounts for about thirty percent. And, lastly Vajrayana which is also called Tantrism or Lamaism with about six percent practicing it mostly found in Mongolia, Nepal, and Tibet. The Buddha statues also symbolize a hunger for hope. It is a religion that focuses on ending suffering. The path to Nirvana is only possible through a repeated cycle of doing good deeds.
